Honestly, none. I love this game for its depth of character development, skill progression, the superb class system and addictive combat and treasure/rare/collectables hunting. But the story itself is... kind of uninspired and very black and white.
Other games with mediocre, dull gameplay but far superior storytelling would be more interesting for a series (never movie, too short, too many cuts), such as Lost Odyssey or KotOR II.
There are also games with amazing stories AND amazing gameplay, such as Morrowind, FFVIII and IX as well as Fallout: New Vegas, but they're better experienced when played, in my opinion, because the unreliable narrator makes those stories what they are.
TL;DR: The Last Remnant's strength lies in its gameplay. I'd leave it where it shines.
We need a sequel game.
